Development Association Mission

The Mission of the BIOWA Development Association is to support and promote the growth and development of Iowa's Bioeconomy. The Bioeconomy is an economy where the basic building blocks for industry and the raw materials for energy are derived from plant-based (renewable) sources.

Development Association Goals

  • Develop at least ten regional biorefineries in Iowa by 2020. A biorefinery is a synergistic cluster of biobased industries producing chemicals, fuels, power, products and materials.
  • Build at least five new biobusinesses, or major expansions of existing biobusinesses each year beginning in 2005
  • In addition to employment, provide investment opportunities for Iowans in biorefineries and biobased businesses
